EquipmentEquipment needed for a successful deer hunt:
a small, bright flashlight for entering and exiting the blind at dark; pocket knife; extra ammo to go with that great rifle you chose; and a cushion to sit on in case the seat is too low. Water, snacks and gloves: latex gloves for cleaning the animal and work gloves to handle the hide of a deer with cactus in it. One needs good binoculars, not necessarily the most expensive. Use a back pack, rather than a duffle, to keep hands free for safe gun handling. Check with the outfitter or rancher to see if the “rut” is on, and make use of those rattling horns and grunt calls. A cell phone is good to have, as well as a camera. Take a compass to get out of the woods and, most important, toilet paper. Have a great hunt!
